Switzerland, a consistent presence at the World Cup over the decades, will be aiming to surpass their best finish at the tournament since 1954. The Swiss cruised through UEFA qualifying unbeaten, claiming four wins across six matches, netting 14 goals, and finishing three points clear atop their group. While the Nati's global record is modest, with their finest results being quarter-final runs in 1934 and 1954, and three consecutive Round of 16 exits in recent editions, this squad blends seasoned veterans with promising young talent. That balance could make them a genuine dark horse for a deep knockout run, even with familiar names like Xherdan Shaqiri, Yann Sommer, and Haris Seferovic having retired from international duty.

Head coach Murat Yakin can lean on the experience of Manuel Akanji, Ricardo Rodriguez, and Granit Xhaka as he works to unlock the full potential of his gifted but inconsistent attacking corps. In total, 17 players from the previous World Cup squad will return for the 2026 edition.

The youngest call-up is 20-year-old midfielder Johan Manzambi, who arrives off the back of an impressive season in the Bundesliga with SC Freiburg.

Drawn into Group B, Switzerland begin their campaign on June 13th against Qatar in Santa Clara, California. Six days later, they meet Bosnia at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles, before closing out the group stage against Canada in Vancouver on June 24th.

In the lead-up to the tournament, the Nati will play two warm-up friendlies: Jordan in St. Gallen on May 31st, followed by Australia in San Diego on June 6th.
